Interparliamentary Conference on Competitiveness

18 - 19 September

At the interparliamentary conference on the EU’s competitiveness, the Danish Parliament's committees, together with parliamentarians from across Europe, will focus on strengthened framework conditions, strategic independence, and new growth.

The Danish Parliament's Business Committee will host a thematic conference concerning the EU's competitiveness.

Europe finds itself in a world that is undergoing change. The character of global trade is being redefined, geopolitical conditions are in upheaval, and technological development is accelerating.

The conference will revolve around two main themes:

  1. Strengthened framework conditions – the foundation for European productivity and growth.
The first session will focus on the structural framework conditions under which businesses in the EU operate. The discussions will be based on Mario Draghi's recommendations on the need for structural reforms and a strategic strengthening of the EU’s competitiveness.
  2. Innovation and capital – keys to strategic independence and new growth.
The second session will focus on Europe’s ability to develop and maintain groundbreaking innovation – particularly in key strategic areas such as green technology, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence.

The session will, among other things, be based on the objectives of the upcoming European Innovation Act, which aims to streamline regulations for startup and growth companies, ease access to venture capital, and support companies' testing activities through so-called innovation sandboxes.

The Interparliamentary Conference on Competitiveness will be held on the 18 - 19 September 2025 at Christiansborg Palace.
